Comprehensive Development Plan

The City is preparing to finalize the Comprehensive Development Plan, which is the guidelines used for what kind of development will occur in what areas. The VBCCO's first concern is protecting the established, suburban neighborhoods. You should take time to attend these meetings to voice you concerns over development that encroaches into our neighborhoods. We will let you know when the hearings start.

This meeting is open to the public, but no comments from the public will be allowed. The purpose of the meeting is for Staff to answer questions posed by the Planning Commissioners.

2024 Update Plan

More Recreation Space

Build out plan for more recreational activities in this City owned space. The Transition Area and Interfacility Traffic Area (ITA) in Virginia Beach encompass approximately 6,250 acres in total. The City of Virginia Beach owns about 2,500 acres, while the remaining 3,750 acres are privately owned. The City's management focuses on balancing suburban development with the preservation of open spaces and natural resources, guided by the Transition Area Design Guidelines and the Interfacility Traffic Area and Vicinity Master Plan (source: planning.virginiabeach.gov, source: web.eenorthcarolina.org).

Boards and Commissions (Appointive Agencies)

Appointive Agencies with vacancies are listed within the City Council Formal Session Agendas until appointments are made. City Council policy requires that Council Members discuss appointments and make nominations during Closed Session before appointing the nominee at the next Formal Session.

During the period between nomination and appointment, Council Members review Talent Bank Applications and requirements for filling the vacant seat.

Step 1 is to fill out a Talent Bank application which is good for five years. Talent Bank Application
