The monthly VBCCO membership meeting will take place on December 17. Lisa Wigginton, Grants Manager for the Cultural Affairs Department, brings extensive experience in arts leadership, grantmaking, and community engagement to her role with the City of Virginia Beach. As a former Civic League leader, she understands the challenges neighborhoods face and how creativity can help address them by bringing people together and inspiring civic pride. Funded beginning in 2024 by City Council‘s decision to dedicate 20% of the local admissions tax to support arts and cultural initiatives, the Creative Neighborhood Grants were designed to create collaborative projects with artists, nonprofits, and community groups. These projects ideally will reflect local identity, celebrate creativity, and strengthen neighborhood connections.

The monthly VBCCO membership meeting will take place on January 21. Role & Organization Quincy A. White serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of VBCDC. VBCDC is an award-winning nonprofit (501(c)(3)) founded in 1985 by the Virginia Beach City Council to facilitate affordable housing and neighbourhood revitalization in Virginia Beach. Key fact: VBCDC manages a portfolio of 500+ affordable rental units and serves low- and moderate-income households city-wide. The organisation’s annual budget is approximately $9 million, with around 40 employees.

Session #2 of the VBCCO Academy builds on our foundation and equips residents with the practical knowledge needed to navigate City Hall with confidence.
